Almoglow is a table lamp designed to promote warm conversations and connections around dining tables and in compact spaces. Its brushed aluminum body pairs with a translucent, exchangeable diffuser, casting a variety of ambient lighting effects. By selecting diffusers of different shapes, users can easily shift the mood of the room, discovering a playful balance of versatility.

Immersing oneself in the endless flow of information on smartphones has become a norm in modern life, and even rare face-to-face gatherings often fail to capture our interest. Almoglow’s adaptable design captures attention and sparks conversation, transforming the dining experience into a richer, more engaging moment shared with others.

From the early stages of concept development, Almoglow was envisioned as an interactive object that feels inviting in the hand and visually dynamic in its light diffusion. Early sketches explored tactile qualities of form variations, emphasizing the relationship between human touch and the visual effects of light.

Design Process

Bound by manufacturing limitations, the design remains minimalist yet expressive in its beauty. The lamp can remain continuously lit for up to 72 hours and features a capacitive touch switch for effortless operation. A Type-C charging port and an indicator light for intuitive charging feedback.

Function

A matte acrylic diffuser is mounted on top of the aluminum lamp, softening and broadening the glow to create a soothing atmosphere. Different shapes of diffusers can adapt to various interior styles, offering users an easy way to personalize their environment.

The lamp’s main body is primarily brushed aluminum, contrasted by matte-finished areas at the sunken top and logo-marked base. The light diffuser is hollow and 3mm thick, ensuring an even, gentle spread of light within it.

Rendering

The body is lathe-turned from aluminum tubing, while the curved top section, which connects to the light diffuser, is CNC-machined. The light diffuser is first 3D-printed, then molded in silicone, and finally cast in resin, resulting in a refined and consistently beautiful finish.
